How do families enter the program?

All of our families will start with a pre screen call with our programs department, and then the adults will do a background check which takes about few days to process, and then once everything clears they’ll be put on our waiting list.

What is the Program Eligibility?

Families must:

  • Have at least one minor child
  • Be willing and able to work
  • Provide proof of income if employed
  • Have school-aged children enrolled in school

No criminal history, active substance abuse, or domestic violence situations.

What are the program expectations?
  • Meet regularly with case management
  • Work toward employment and housing goals
  • Follow shelter guidelines and curfews
  • Maintain respectful behavior within the shelter environment
Do you have a waitlist?

Yes! Family Promise typically has an active waitlist for shelter services. Availability can change frequently based on family size, program openings, and shelter capacity.

WHAT DISQUALIFIES ME FROM THE BACKGROUND CHECK?

Violent crimes, crimes against children, or any recent offence within the past year.

What is the Shelter Like?

During the day, families spend time at our day center where they can meet with case managers work on housing and employment goals, do laundry, shower and prepare meals. At night families stay at local congregations that partner with us to sleep and have meals.

Where do Families Sleep?

Families stay overnight at different congregations throughout the program. families sleep together in designated sleeping areas set up by the churches. Volunteers help providemeals, support, and hospitality during the evening and overnight hours.
