How often would our congregation host?
Congregations typically host for one week at a time, three to four times each year. Georgi can discuss the schedule and commitment with your congregation.
Do families stay at the congregation during the day?
Hosting focuses on evenings and overnight accommodations. Family Promise coordinates daytime transportation to the Day Center, where families access services while continuing with work, school, and appointments.
Does our congregation need showers?
Your congregation needs on-site restroom access. Showers are available through Family Promise’s Day Center.
Do volunteers need previous experience?
Family Promise provides volunteer orientation and guidance so members understand their roles and feel prepared to welcome families.
Are volunteers expected to provide childcare?
Volunteer roles focus on meals and hospitality. Parents remain responsible for their children. Volunteers can help with family activities, games, and homework in coordination with parents.
What if our congregation doesn’t have space?
Have volunteers but need a space? Your congregation can still host! We have partner churches that can lend their space, allowing your congregation to provide meals, volunteers, and hospitality. Contact Georgi to learn more about available spaces and how we can help coordinate.
Can we help without hosting overnight?
Yes! Your congregation can support a host congregation by providing meals, volunteers, and hospitality. Georgi can help identify a partnership that fits your congregation.
