“As we get older, we feel the need to leave a legacy to the charities in which we have been active Family Promise of Greater Phoenix partners with the faith community to provide emergency shelter while providing the help needed to get the families back to sustainable housing. These are the two main reasons we choose Family Promise to leave our legacy and participate in its capital campaign.”

A Message from the CEO

The calamities associated with homelessness are not new. Across our communities, many families have suffered – and continue to suffer. In Maricopa County, 37% of the homeless population are families, and 67% of homeless families are single parents with 2-3 kids.

For 25 years, Family Promise of Greater Phoenix has been at the forefront, working tirelessly to end homelessness within our community. Our unique approach goes beyond temporary shelter. As part of the solution, we know first-hand that permanent and safe housing is required to create the stable environment needed for families to transition into self-sufficiency. More than a shelter, we are a beacon of hope and a waypoint that ends our clients’ homeless experience.

Our innovative model keeps entire families together, including their pets, and focuses on preventing homelessness before it starts. Through our Prevention Program, we offer past rent and deposit assistance. Our Day Centers in Glendale, Mesa, and Scottsdale become a “home base” where our social work team helps families meet basic needs, connect with resources, and achieve employment and housing goals.

We’re now launching the public phase of “A Journey Home Capital Campaign” to expand our impact. Our $4.2 million goal will help us prevent homelessness for more at-risk families, double our shelter space across the Valley, support at least 80 newly independent families annually, and secure and renovate our central operations building.

As we work to bring this new vision into focus, we are jointly seeking your philanthropic support and partnership. With your help in completing this campaign, we are confident that we will be better positioned as we work tirelessly to help more than 400 families annually make their Journey Home!

The A Journey Home campaign will transform Family Promise’s ability to serve homeless families across Greater Phoenix, expanding from 180 to over 400 families served annually while providing comprehensive support from prevention through long-term stability.

Campaign Goals:

  • Secure and renovate the Earll Drive building to serve as a central hub for operations and day center services, taking advantage of a $1M below-market purchase opportunity
  • Double shelter capacity across the Valley by expanding partnerships and facilities to meet the 219% increase in West Valley and 129% increase in East Valley homelessness
  • Launch a comprehensive Prevention Program to help at-risk families avoid homelessness through rent assistance and early intervention services
  • Strengthen the Graduate Program to support 80+ newly independent families annually with up to 2 years of post-graduation stability services
  • Partner with housing organizations to create new affordable housing opportunities for low-income families transitioning out of homelessness
  • Expand operational capacity to effectively deliver services through multiple locations across Greater Phoenix
