I once was homeless in Ahwatukee.
For nearly two months, I depended on the generosity of family
and friends or I would have been in a shelter myself.
I have a college degree, have always worked and have always paid my bills. But you are not always in control of circumstances.

Within months, I was working as a consultant and paying my own way.
Within two years, I bought my own home here in Ahwatukee.
But I have never forgotten that I could not have recovered so quickly or so well without a hand up.
I am delighted to see that the Family Promise program exists to provide that helping hand to help families in a temporary state of homelessness pull themselves up and get back to being self-sufficient.
God bless Mountain View Lutheran Church and the others who truly walk the walk.
"There but for the grace of God go I." Well I went there and I came back and I just want to encourage the church to take on this program.
And to the homeless families, I want them to know that they are not alone and that they can make it with hard work and helping hands.
God bless them all.
